Born from experience. Built for caregivers.

Empowering families with the skills and support they deserve

OUR STORY

RK Health was founded by Ruhee Khan, a former family caregiver who quickly realized how unprepared families are when a loved one needs care. Despite her background in health sciences and healthcare strategy, she struggled with the day-to-day realities of caregiving lifting safely, managing hygiene, supporting mobility, and navigating behavioural changes.

To understand how widespread this problem was, Ruhee surveyed and interviewed over 2,000 caregivers across Canada. The responses were unanimous:

“It’s trial and error.”

“You figure it out as you go.”

“No one tells you what to actually do.”

What she uncovered was a significant gap: caregivers are expected to perform essential, complex tasks with little to no guidance.

Hospitals know the transition home can be difficult, but the focus remains on patient care — and there are limited supports in place for the family members who suddenly become caregivers. Retirement and long-term care homes are deeply committed to resident well-being and often work closely with families during transitions. But even with the best intentions, the emotional and practical toll on loved ones can go unseen. Families want to help — and often do — but without the right tools, the experience can feel overwhelming.

While there are many resources focused on emotional and social support, few offer practical, hands-on training.

That’s why RK Health was created — and why it’s become Canada’s first organization focused entirely on practical caregiver training.

OUR
PURPOSE

RK Health is Canada’s first organization focused entirely on practical caregiver training.

We’re not just offering information — we’re teaching the how.

How to care safely. How to preserve dignity. How to feel less overwhelmed and more confident.

What started with one caregiver’s story is now a growing movement, working alongside hospitals, clinics, and senior living communities to make caregiving easier, safer, and more human — for everyone involved.

BRAMPTON CIVIC HOSPITAL

Brampton Civic Hospital is part of William Osler Health System, one of the largest hospital networks in Ontario, serving a broad and diverse population.

How We Work Together
RK Health has partnered with Brampton Civic to bridge the transition from hospital to home. Through a 12-week on-site pilot, we provide on site practical training to family caregivers on essential Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility, hygiene, bathing, and behavior management. This partnership supports smoother transitions home, reduces caregiver overwhelm, and helps prevent avoidable readmissions and complications.
